Events Call for Participation: IT Governance and Information System Interoperability   Luxemburg, 2005-06-07 09:00:00 - 2005-06-07 18:00:00
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) offer a strong potential for innovation, both for enterprises as well as for the Society. The successful management of these innovations is not only depending on technical factors, but also, and probably first, on the take up and the integration of these innovations by organizations and individuals in their activities. The goal of SPIRAL 2005 is to identify, to analyze and to study such factors favoring the integration of ICT-based innovations within organizations. Through different experimentations and business case reports, each speaker will discuss the different facets of the integration of information systems within business processes, the importance of a global data dictionary (ontology) and, finally, the importance of the IT/business alignment within the context of an IT Governance strategy. These success factors will be presented through different cases arising from different sectors : bank and finance, public administration, e-business and building sector.

Events EMMSAD’05, Tenth International Workshop on Exploring Modeling Methods in Systems Analysis and Design   Porto, Portugal, held in conjunction with CAISE'05, 2005-06-13 09:00:00 - 2005-06-14 17:00:00
This workshop focuses on exploring, evaluating, and enhancing current information modeling methods and methodologies. Though the need for such studies is well recognized, there is a paucity of such research in the literature. The objective of EMMSAD’05 is to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners interested in modeling methods in systems analysis and design to meet, and exchange research ideas and results. It also provides the participants an opportunity to present their research papers and experience reports, and to take part in open discussions. EMMSAD’05 is the tenth in a very successful series of EMMSAD workshops, previously held in Crete, Barcelona, Pisa, Heidelberg, Stockholm, Interlaken, Toronto, Velden, and Riga. To mark the tenth anniversary of the workshop, this year the workshop will include one or more papers that reflect on historical trends in information modeling.
Events Agent-based Technologies and applications for enterprise interOPerability (ATOP) workshop, in the frame of AAMAS 2005   Utrecht, Netherlands, 2005-06-25 09:00:00 - 2005-06-26 09:00:00
The goal this workshop is to bring together researchers investigating agent technologies and multiagent system and researchers investigating interoperability of business applications, in the later case especially researchers from InterOp and ATHENA with some interest in agent-related research. The workshop focuses on technologies that support interoperability in networked organizations, on successful applications of these technologies, and on lessons learned. The idea is to discuss in how far agent technologies can support interoperability in this context and to compare current trends in the development of agent technologies with recent developments in service-oriented and model driven system design with respect to their ability to solve interoperability problems.

Events EDOC 2005   Enschede, The Netherlands, 2005-09-19 08:00:00 - 2005-09-23 20:00:00
The EDOC Conference is the primary annual event focusing on the confluence of the paradigms, technologies and methods involved in enterprise computing. EDOC 2005 is the next event in the successful series of conferences, which since 1997 has brought together leading researchers, architects and practitioners from both academia and industry to discuss enterprise computing challenges and solutions. Today the creation, operation and evolution of enterprise computing systems span concerns that range from high-level requirements and policy modelling through to the deployment of specific implementation technologies and paradigms, and involve a wide (and ever growing) range of methods, tools and technologies. They also cover a broad spectrum of vertical domains and industry segments, from electronic and mobile commerce through to real-time control systems. The EDOC Conference emphasises the integration of enterprise computing research and development results, fostering an enterprise engineering approach that can address and relate business, application and middleware levels. The themes of openness and distributed computing, comprising service-, component- and object-oriented approaches, provide a useful and unifying conceptual thread for this purpose.
